Research

My research is centred around couplings between nature recovery and climate change mitigation and adaptation. I am particularly interested in biogeochemical effects of (re)introducing large animals to ecosystems with active research projects in the Arctic, Northern Europe and North America. I focus mainly on carbon dynamics, particular with respect to storage and stabilisation in the soil.

Teaching activities

I have a B.Sc. (2012) and M.Sc. (2014) in Geography and Geoinformatics from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and a Ph.D. in Physical Geopgrapgy and Ecosystem Science from Lund University, Sweden (2019)

Collaborations

On my main project, CarbonZoo, I collaborate with researchers from University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University of California Davis, and TU Berlin to understand how reindeer and muskox affect ecosystem carbon dynamics in Greenland. On the WildSoil project, I collaborate with researchers from UCPH to understand the potential of rewilding as a climate solution in Denmark. Recently, we started a collaboration between AU Biology and AU BSS to around biodiversity and business.
