As a professor of metabolic disease epidemiology and consultant physician at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology, I conduct research based on healthcare databases. I am especially interested in the risk, medical treatment, and complications of type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, and obesity. I do research within pharmacoepidemiology on the use and effects of medications for obesity, diabetes, cardio-renal disease, antibiotics and vaccines.
My primary area of responsibility is coordinating the metabolic disease epidemiology research activities at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology, supervising younger researchers i.e. PhD students, Postdocs, and research year medical students. I have extensive experience with real-world evidence and research project management, including research services to governmental institutions, biotech companies, and regulators. I do quite a lot of teaching, mainly at Aarhus University.
