As a trained dentist with a PhD in dental biofilms, I have a strong interest in research related to biofilms and dental caries. My primary responsibilities include teaching future dentists and contributing to the field of cariology research. In my role as program director, I am responsible for overseeing the planning and quality assurance of the Dentistry program's curriculum, as well as contributing to the strategic development of education within the faculty.
My research focuses on microbiological and structural aspects of natural dental biofilm to understand ecological interactions among microorganisms in relation to biofilm and caries formation. We use novel techniques to describe 3-D microbial communities and pH landscapes within intact in situ and in vivo dental biofilms.
I am course coordinator for Basic diagnosis and disease control 1 and 2 in the Dental education. I teach dental students in cariology and treatment planning and I am supervisor for bachelor projects and Master's theses.
As a program director, I have been responsible for and contributed to the development of the curricula in Odontology and continuously contribute to the development of teaching materials and books.
My primary responsibility as an associate professor is research in biofilm and caries as well as education of dental students. I am also Head of Studies of the Bachelor's degree and Master's degree programs in Dentistry.
