My interest in archaea began during my bachelor’s studies, when I first became fascinated by these often overlooked microbes. Since then, I have explored different aspects of the field, including their ecology, diversity, cell biology and evolutionary significance. My current research, supported by an ERC Starting Grant, is focused on the Asgard archaea, the closest prokaryotic relatives of eukaryotes, and how their ecology, cell biology, and biochemistry may have contributed to the emergence of complex life.
