Anders Anker Bjørk is a Danish geographer and glaciologist who serves as Associate Professor at the Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management at University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on the evolution and dynamics of glaciers, particularly in Greenland and Antarctica, and how glaciers respond to climate change over time.
Bjørk combines historical aerial photographs, satellite imagery, archival records, and field observations to reconstruct past glacier changes and improve understanding of future ice-sheet behavior. His work has contributed to major international studies on Greenland Ice Sheet mass balance and glacier retreat, including publications in leading journals such as Natureand Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
At the University of Copenhagen, he is affiliated with the Geomorphology, Processes and Landscapes research group and has led or participated in projects such as AIR ANTARCTICA and HIGHSPEED, supported by the Villum and Carlsberg Foundations. His research aims to improve predictions of future glacier change by better understanding past glacier fluctuations.
