The research at the Section for Aquatic Biology focuses on biological structures and processes in aquatic ecosystems. We work in freshwater and marine ecosystems in temperate, Arctic and tropical regions, and we apply our research to both basic and applied science problems. We study physical and chemical structures, biodiversity, aquatic plant ecophysiology, microbial and plankton populations, faunal ecology, biogeochemical processes, polluted waters and fisheries, as well as interactions among these components and the management of aquatic resources.
