The Section for Microbiology hosts an interdisciplinary research environment where we study the physiology, evolution and ecology of microorganisms. Our research covers the whole range of biological scales from the individual cells to ecosystems and global element cycles. Our goal is to understand the role of microorganisms in nature including their interactions with other organisms and the environment, how we may use them for sustainable and technical solutions and how they affect plant, animal and human health.
