An article in the Danish newspaper, Information, describes how ecoinformatics gave biology new understandings of nature and has discarded grand theories that existed before the invention of the computer. One of these is the theory of equilibrium. In connection to that, the article mentions Professor Jens-Christian Svenning's research on how Danish nature still has not recovered since the last Ice Age. The article further explores what influence computers have had on fieldwork. Here it describes Assistant Professor Rob Buitenwerf's typical day in the field, where field records are used to inform the satellite pictures of an area.
