- Our Research in General
We work on a broad range of plant-related topics, but we all share an interest in explaining how, why, where, and when the amazing diversity of plants has evolved. To get to the evolutionary drivers of plant diversity, we build and use the plant Tree of Life, and often exploit the geographic variation in plant diversity for comparative studies. We are interested in theoretical and methodological research, too, and although plants are our primary empirical study system, we are open to collaborations on other organisms if we can contribute methodologically. Most of our research falls within the fields of phylogenetics/phylogenomics, biogeography, macroecology, and biodiversity informatics.
